ABI Code of Practice - Telesales Script
(1) Customers travelling within 5 days of buying the Policy
Your Holiday Travel Insurance is a very important part of your holiday arrangements providing you with protection and peace of mind. There are some points which I have to bring to your attention and I wonder if you could bear with me for a few moments while I run through with you the following:
Your policy is underwritten by AXA Insurance (UK) plc who are members of the General Insurance Standards Council and Financial Ombudsman’s Service. The ABI (Association of British Insurers) Code of Selling Practice requires us to bring to your attention that there are important aspects of your policy.
Certain sections of your policy contain exclusions for losses arising from the failure of equipment to correctly recognise the calendar date, such as the change to the year 2000.
Your policy principally covers you for Cancellation, Curtailment, Medical Expenses and Baggage. It contains limitations, conditions and exclusions. Certain sections of the policy will be subject to an excess. This means you are responsible for paying the first part of the claim.
Personal property claims are based on the value of your property at the time you lose or damage them and not replacement cost. You must take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property.
There are restrictions regarding pre-existing medical problems concerning the people who are travelling and any other person upon whose health the trip may depend. You must tell us of any facts which are likely to influence Underwriters in the acceptance assessment or continuance of this insurance. If you don’t it may invalidate this insurance, leaving you with no right to claim.
We will be forwarding to you your policy which you will receive before you travel. Please read your policy carefully and if you have any queries please contact us. Your policy has a cooling off period during which time you can return it to us should the policy not meet with your requirements. Provided you have not travelled and that no claims have or will be made under the policy we will refund you your insurance premium in full.
It is a criminal offence to make a fraudulent claim.
Finally, there is also a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint about the service you have received. Thank you for your time and I hope you fully understand our explanation regarding the Holiday Travel Insurance you have taken out with us.
